Role

Technical Programmer

A nostalgic, action-adventure game where childhood memories take a twisted turn. Set in a vibrant world inspired by the magic and chaos of ‘90s bedroom floors, players step into the shoes of a kid whose toys have mysteriously sprung to life — and they’re not playing nice.

My role in this project is "technical programmer". I have, so far, worked on the UI, menus, audio implementation, level transitions, an objective system and certain gameplay features. Since this game is intended to be released a full product in the future, there are several industry-standard features I have had the opportunity to work on. The primary example for this is the game's options menu. While my previous games also featured menus similar to this, they were much more basic, being limited to just one option each. Here, meanwhile, the options menu contains gameplay, graphics and audio settings, as well as full key binding options for both keyboard & mouse and gamepads. Aside from the options menu, the most challenging part of this game to work on so far was the "chest puzzle", as seen below. In this puzzle, the player must insert each key piece into the corresponding slot. While the puzzle itself is quite simple, implementing this into the game took a lot of work, with the hardest part being getting it to work with controllers.
